* Foundation Aid is the
Education Department's description for money
provided to school districts for instructional
purposes. The amount of Foundation Aid school
districts receive is essentially based upon the
number of students, but is adjusted to reflect
regional costs and students with special needs.
Foundation Aid does not include money expense-driven
items, such as construction, transportation, BOCES
and other special service aid, special education,
universal pre-kindergarten and others.
