Watervliet City Schools lock out over
Friday, November 6, 1:19 pm
Earlier today, a prisoner escaped from the Watervliet
City Court. Under the advisement of the Watervliet City
Police Department, due to the proximity of this event to
both of our schools, we implemented the district’s
lock out procedures.
These
procedures were implemented as extra precautions put in place to
assure the health and safety of our students. These
precautions included: keeping students inside for recess
and physical education classes, locking the single point
of entry to each building and informing staff of the
situation to ensure a heightened sense of awareness
throughout the buildings.
The schools
were released from lock out at approximately 1:10 pm, when
district officials were informed by the police department
that the situation had been resolved.
We’d like to thank the Watervliet Police Department for
their swift notification about this incident, which allowed
us to react quickly to secure our students' safety.
