October 29, 2009 According to a 2007 study by the American Academy of Pediatrics, "Play allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength. Play is important to healthy brain development."
WES student's brains will soon have some help in the healthy development department. The equipment for the new playground areas at the school has been delivered and installation is in process. A schematic of the new playground areas can be viewed by clicking on the picture to your right.
The various play areas are all prepared for the equipment, and it is expected to take a few weeks for the equipment to be installed and made "play-ready." Building administrators stress that installation timing will depend heavily on the weather.
