7th graders learn how to make WJSHS a better place! On April 29, 2008, the Character Education Committee presented their annual NCBI training (National Coalition Building Institute). The training was a full day event where multiple high school students, along with multiple staff members, spent a day celebrating diversity and exploring ways to make our school a place where all are welcomed, respected and supported. The entire 7th grade class participated in this event. The training was made up of numerous hands-on activities and role playing activities including audio-visual role plays.
Students were encouraged to accept and embrace differences in each other and refrain from using differences to emotionally hurt an individual. The majority of students had a very positive experience and mentioned that the way that they look at others had been changed through the experience.
