Space available for students in Watervliet ExTRA Summer Academy

Watervliet ExTRA program to provide academic support, enrichment activities
for K-8 students this summer

 

The Watervliet ExTRA Summer Academy has openings available for students in the following in grade levels: incoming 3rd graders, 5th graders, 6th graders and 7th graders. Some availability also remains for the summer travel program for incoming 8th and 9th grade students.

The five-week program begins Monday, July 10. To secure a spot in the program for your child, download and complete a Registration Form and email to: dstevens@vlietschools.org, or call (518) 629-3263.

The Watervliet City Schools will offer ExTRA Summer Academy programs to support students and their academic needs this summer. The Summer Academy is available to currently enrolled Watervliet City School District students and students who will be attending Watervliet schools for the 2017-2018 school year in kindergarten through grade 8. This grant-funded summer program focuses on increasing academic achievement in ELA and math. The program will provide students with focused instruction toward the goal of increasing needed ELA and math skills to become more successful. These core subjects will be combined with fun activities in art, physical education and library/technology. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to students free of charge.

A limited number of spots are available at each grade level. Please download and complete the Registration Form and return to the Watervliet Elementary School as soon as possible to secure a spot in the program for your child.

Transportation is available for students who usually receive transportation. The same rules apply for students who are walkers during the school year. Please download and complete the Transportation Form to indicate your child’s transportation needs and dismissal process.

The Watervliet Civic Center Summer Recreation Program is available for students in the afternoon, please contact the Civic Center at 273-5922 for more information.

Program expectations

bullet graphicStudents are expected to attend the summer academy daily; three (3) or more unexcused absences may result in removal from the program.

bullet graphicStudents are expected to follow school and classroom rules. Behavior infractions may result in the removal from the program.

bullet graphicJunior High students who attend and are successful will earn necessary seat time to move to the next academic grade in September.

bullet graphicStudents should come to the Summer Academy ready to learn and have fun! Our goal is to provide additional ELA and Math support along with opportunities for enrichment.
