Several ways to stay informed

Now that winter weather is here, the district shares a reminder about weather-related announcements.

Closing and delay information is posted on the school district’s website, directly on the homepage. Announcements are also post to the district’s FACEBOOK and TWITTER feeds.

School closings are also announced on local TV and radio stations, including: Channel 6, Channel 9 (YNN), Channel 10, Channel 13, WFLY (92.3 FM), WGNA (107.7 FM), WGY (810 AM), WYJB (B95.5), WRVE (99.5 FM), as well as the Times Union website and WVLT (City of Watervliet cable access channel).

In addition, closing and delay notifications are sent directly via text, email and phone through the district’s ONE CALL NOW system. All Watervliet parents with students currently registered in school have been automatically entered into One Call Now based on information in the district’s Parent Portal. Parents do not need to sign-up for this service, however, it is recommended that parents/guardians check with district registrar Roni O’Brien by phone 629-3204 or email to make sure the district has your most up-to-date contact information.

Please note that if there is a two-hour delay, BOCES CTE morning classes will be canceled, and no school breakfast will be served.

Finally, it is best to rely on more than one source of information when it comes to weather-related announcements. This is particularly true in situations where power outages are involved, which can impact the district’s ability to send notifications electronically.
