WES Parents Please Note: District Calendar
Clarification Watervliet Elementary
School students in grades K-6 will attend school for a full day on
Thursday, September 4 and Friday, September 5. Universal
Pre-Kindergarten Classes (UPK) at WES and St. Brigid's, will be 1/2
day on Thursday 9/4. On Friday 9/5, WES UPK will be full day and St.
Brigid's UPK half-day. Thank you and we apologize for any confusion
this may have caused. |

Watervliet Elementary Welcomes Class of 2021!
Watervliet Elementary School welcomed incoming kindergartners during
an orientation on August 26. The event is held each year to allow
new students and their families to meet the teachers, visit their
classroom and familiarize themselves with school procedures.

Did you get a 2008-09
calendar in the mail?
District calendars were sent out at the
beginning of the week of August 25. All parents of registered
students should have received a copy in their mailbox. (one copy per
family.) The school has done some upgrades to our student database
system this year and we may have missed some families by mistake. If
you did not receive a calendar,
please click here to fill out a form to inform us of the mistake.
You can pick up extra copies of the calendar
at the main office in each school. It is also available online.

Watervliet's Contract for Excellence -
The Watervliet City School
District will again be receiving "Contract for Excellence" (C4E)
monies from the state. This additional funding will be targeted to support our
educational program and improve academic achievement. We are seeking
public input on the C4E process and would like to hear your opinion.

Watervliet City Schools
launches e-mail notification system for parents and community
We're pleased to announce the launch of our
new "School News Notifer" (SNN), a system designed to keep parents
and residents more in touch with key happenings in the school
district. SNN is an opt-in system where individuals can sign up to
receive e-mail alerts from the district administration.

The district is in the process of developing
and implementing a corrective action plan that will be submitted to
the State Comptroller's Office for the required approvals.
