WCSD partners with Whitney Young Health to offer students access to health care at school

Dear Parents/Guardians of Watervliet City School District Students:

We are excited to announce a new partnership with Whitney Young Health to offer a School-Based Health Program beginning this summer.

Our mission is to ensure students of all backgrounds have access to high-quality health care whenever they need it. We are integrating Whitney Young Health into the Watervliet school district to help ensure that students’ basic healthcare needs are met and in an effort to reduce absenteeism.

With a Whitney Young Health school-based health center on site, WCSD students will no longer have to travel to a physician or licensed clinical social worker to address physical and mental health needs. Parents/guardians will not have to take a day off of work to bring children to a doctor’s office.

The Whitney Young Health school-based health center will be located in the nurse’s office on the first floor of the Watervliet Jr./Sr. High School. The health services will be offered to any student enrolled in the WCSD. The district will provide transportation via school bus for elementary students to visit the school-based health program at the WJSHS.

All children enrolled in the WCSD will have access to all that Whitney Young Health offers providing that parents/guardians return a completed School-Based Health Program questionnaire. These required forms will give Whitney Young permission to treat your child. Forms will be updated on an annual basis. Download required forms

Whitney Young Health accepts all health insurance carriers, and offers assistance to parents in obtaining health insurance. There will never be an “out-of-pocket” expense for any services provided by Whitney Young Health.

We look forward to working with our Watervliet families in an effort to keep students healthy and in school.

For your child(ren) to participate in the School-Based Health Program this school year, please complete and return the health questionnaire and parental consent and enrollment packets to the main office in either school building.
